December 19, 2009: Aandu Vizhaa 2009
Tamil Sangam
of Carolina's Aandu Vizhaa was celebrated on Dec. 19, 2009 at Apex Community Center, Apex, NC. The main agenda for Aandu Vizhaa 2009 was to elect a new Tamil Sangam board for the next two years 2010-2011.

Mr. Ravi Shanmugam, President, welcomed the audience. The meeting got started with Thamizh Thai Vaazthu. He mentioned about the Tamil Sangam events happened during the two year term (2008-2009) that the outgoing board served Tamil Sangam.

Mr. Nazeer Abdul, Treasurer, read out the financial report for 2008 and 2009. Copies of the financial reports were available to the members.


Mr. Veda Vedaiyan served as the Election Officer and officiated the election process. Mr. Selvan Patchamuthu and Mrs. Aruna Karthikeyan served as members of the nominating committee.

Sunday July 20, 2008: Tamizhar Vizhaa
This wonderful event was celebrated on Saturday Oct. 18, 2008 at Daniel's Auditorium, NC Museum of History, Raleigh. Thanks for the Event co-ordinators Thirumathi Uma Pugazendhi and Thirumathi Nandhini Yuvaraj. It was attended by about 200 people..

Sunday July 20, 2008: Meeting with Prof. Mammathu and SUN TV "Asaththa Povathu Yaaru" fame Erode Mahesh
This wonderful event was celebrated on Sunday July 20, 2008 at Herbert C. Young Community Center, Room B, 101 Wilkinson Ave, Cary, NC 27513. Thiru Mammathu, a great Thamizh Isai kalaingar, explained the Thamizh Pannisai. The audience appreciated his wealth of knowledge in Thamizh Pannisai. Thiru Erode Mahesh captivated tha audience by his jokes. The audience had a hearty laugh through out the event. It was attended by about 100 people.

May 18, 2008: Chithirai Thirunaal 2008
Chithirai Thirunaal was celebrated on May 18, 2008 at Lake Wheeler - Raleigh, NC. Delicious lunch was served during the event. Lots of outdoor activities were conducted for adults and kids. Thanks for the food co-ordinators Thirumathi Alli Kalidoss, Thirumathi Raji Shanmugam, Event co-ordinators Thiru Sonai Tharmar and Thiru Babu Suresh. It was attended by about 110 people.

January 20, 2008: Pongal Vizhaa 2008
Pongal Vizhaa 2008 was celebrated on Jan. 20, 2008 at Pittman Auditorium, St. Mary's School, Raleigh NC. Many cultural events were part of this celebration. About 350 people attended the celebration. Thirumathi Mala Vedaiyan and Thirumathi Anandhi Jeyakumar were the cultural co-ordinators. Pongal, Vadai, Cookies and Tea were served during this event. Thamizh Sangam expresses its sincere thanks to all the volunteers who prepared the food and snacks. Thamizh Sangam also expresses its sincere thanks to the support staff at the Pittman Auditorium, St. Mary's School, Raleigh.

November 17, 2007: Aandu Vizhaa 2007
Tamil Sangam Aandu Vizhaa was celebrated on Nov. 17, 2007 at Bond Park Community Center, Oak Room in Cary, NC. The new Tamil Sangam board for 2008-2009 was selected. The following are the members of the new board. President : Mr. Ravi Shanmugam

Mr. Selvan Patchamuthu read out the financial report for 2007. A Pattimanram was conducted with Mr. Guruparan as the moderator. The topic of pattimanram was "Influence of movies on the Tamil Diaspora - Good or bad?".

April 28, 2007: Chithirai Thirunaal '07
Chithirai Thirunaal was celebrated on Apr. 28, 2007 at Apex Community Park in Apex, NC. Delicious lunch was served during the event. Lots of outdoor activities were conducted for adults and kids. Thanks for the food co-ordinator Thirumathi Devaki Patchamuthu, Event co-ordinators Thirumathi Krithika Vayapuri, Thirumathi Nandhini Yuvaraj. It was attended by about 125 people.

 

February 4, 2007: Pongal Vizhaa 2007
Pongal Vizhaa 2007 was celebrated on Feb. 04, 2007 at the Senior Center, Bond Park in Cary, NC. Many cultural events were part of this celebration. About 200 people attended the celebration. The kids from the Thamizh class being conducted at the local county libraries with the support of Tamil Sangam of Carolina and International Educational Foundation sang the "Thamizh Thai Vaazthu". Thirumathi Sarulatha Guruparan was the cultural co-ordinator and Thirumathi Raji Shanmugam was the food co-ordinator. Pongal, Vadai, Brownies and Tea were served during this event. Thamizh Sangam expresses its sincere thanks to all the volunteers who prepared the food and snacks. Thamizh Sangam also expresses its sincere thanks to the support staff at the Bond Park Senior Center.

 

April 30, 2006: Chithirai Thirunaal '06
Chithirai Thirunaal was celebrated on Apr. 30, 2006 at Apex Community Park in Apex, NC. Delicious lunch was served during the event. Lots of outdoor activities were conducted for adults and kids. Thanks for the food co-ordinators Thirumathi Raji Shanmugam and Thirumathi Vimala Suresh, Event co-ordinators Thiru. Sakthivel Karthikeyan, Thiru. Logan Modahala, Thirumathi Sabitha Theetharappan and Thiru. Kulasekara Pandian. It was attended by about 150 people.

 

January 14, 2006: Pongal '06
Pongal was celebrated on Jan 14, 2006 in the Meredith College Auditorium in Raleigh, North Carolina. It was attended by about 150 people and the cultural programs were well appreciated and done nicely. Cultural programs were co-ordinated by Thirumathi Devi Sorna.

Pongal sweets were distributed to participants.
